Character Background: Mindy is not, nor probably never will be, a "typical" young woman. Her father was once a cop and a damn good one at that. Unlike the majority of the cops in his precent, however, Damon Macready refused to take bribes from anyone for any reason. Because of this, Frank D'Amico set Damon up and had him sent to jail for many years. During his incarceration, his wife [Mindy's mother] committed suicide while still pregnant with Mindy. She was saved while her mother died.
When she was about four years old, her father was released from prison. He took Mindy and vanished, planning on training her to become his sidekick. For many years, she was trained to become an assassin at the hands of her father. Together, the two of them fought crime all around New York City as Big Daddy and Hit Girl.
When Kick Ass came onto the scene, Mindy was excited to have another hero to fight crime with. Damon, however, had his reservations. When he was kidnapped by D'Amico's men because of Kick Ass unwittingly leading D'Amico's men to them [courtesy of Red Mist, which was D'Amico's son], she began to wonder if he hadn't been right. She followed D'Amico's men to the warehouse that they were keeping Kick Ass and Big Daddy at, all while broadcasting their respective beatings and soon to be death on the internet for all to see, and rescued them.
Unfortunately, she was too late to save her father. His death spurred her to move on D'Amico and kill him. Although she told Kick Ass to go home, he refused to leave and offered to help her. Surprised and strangely touched by his offer, she agreed and the two plotted to take down the man that had ruined both of their lives.
Mindy started off the attack by using her girlish charms to catch the ground floor guards unaware. Using her tears, they allowed her inside and offered her a phone to call her parents. Before they realized what was happening, she had her gun out. She killed all the guards on the ground floor and stepped into the elevator. When she arrived on D'Amico's floor, she was dressed in her Hit Girl outfit and loaded down with weapons.
She single handily began to kill the majority of D'Amico's goons. That is, until she ran out of ammo and her knives were all thrown. Realizing that she was stuck, she hid behind the counter in the kitchen using what she could find to pick them off. One of the goons went and got a bazooka that he'd stolen from Big Daddy and Hit Girl's safe house. She thought that she was dead, until Kick Ass intervened.
While Kick Ass ran to confront Red Mist, she confronted D'Amico. The two of them fought, but due to his size D'Amico managed to get the upper hand. Things were looking grim for Hit Girl as she watched him rear back for one last punch. Once more, Kick Ass intervened, this time using the bazooka that would have killed Mindy earlier. D'Amico was shot of the window before exploding above New York.
The two of them left Red Mist to lick his wounds and went up to the roof. They revealed their secret identities to one another [although Mindy already knew his] and shook hands, becoming friends. She moved back in with her original guardian, Marcus Williams and began going to the same high school as Dave.
Abilities/Special Powers: Mindy has spent the majority of her life being trained as a fighter and a killer. She's highly knowledgeable in tactics, martial arts, guns, knives, and grenades. She's also very deceptive, not above using her status as a female and a child to draw in her targets. Mindy's also seen every action movie and is a particular fan of John Woo.
She can name any knife, its history, and its creator. She can also name any gun, its inventor, and its history. It's also been implied in both the comics and the movie that she has a strong memory, both muscle and regular. She can also take a bullet while wearing a bullet proof vest. She can also drive and operate heavy machinery. Mindy also has an extremely high pain tolerance as a result of her constant fighting and training.
While she is great at fighting and weapons, when it comes to social situations Mindy is incredibly unsure of herself. Due to her upbringing, she was never really exposed to people outside of her father. She simply doesn't know how to handle herself and rarely has anything in common with anyone of her age.
Despite all of her training, Mindy is still only human. She can be injured, get sick, and be killed. Granted, it would be harder to kill her than it would a normal person. She's also easily manipulated by father figures in her life.
Third-Person Sample:
The first thing Mindy became aware of as consciousness slowly came trickling back was the pain. Breathing made her chest and sides feel like they were on fire, a result from the impact of the bullets that she'd taken a few hours before. Her head felt heavy and aching and her stomach was churning slightly, possibly the result of a concussion. Not surprising when she considered the beating that she'd taken while fighting D'Amico. The next things that she became aware of, and possibly the most surprising, was the feeling of grass beneath her cheek and sunlight upon her face.
Her eyes opened slowly and she found herself looking at a pond. A pond with a fountain and water lilies and something moving just below the water's surface. Her eyebrows knitted as she slowly sat up, ignoring the pain and stiffness. That was odd. There weren't really a lot of things like that in New York City.
She forced herself to take a look around, really study her surroundings. Mindy scowled as she found herself staring up at a very large and fancy looking mansion, the kind that you saw in old movies. Disbelief washed over her as she came to the hard conclusion that this was not New York City.
"Well, fuck," she muttered under her breath. She forced herself to stand up, ignoring the pain and stiffness that she felt. It was best to keep moving, to ignore the pain and work the stiffness out.
A hand went to her face and she grimaced slightly as she felt the bruises rising. Dried blood cracked and flecked her fingertips. Her mask and wig were both still on, as was her costume and the few weapons that she had left over. She knew that she must look quite the sight, a little girl dressed up and clearly beaten.
She had no clue where she was or how she'd gotten here, but she knew that panicking or crying wouldn't help. Instead, she took as deep of a breath that her bruised body would allow and began walking towards the mansion. There was a determined air about her as she tilted her chin slightly upwards.
"Here goes nothing," she muttered. The first thing that she needed to do was find out where she was and how she'd gotten here. The second thing was to figure out how in the hell to get back home. The third? Well, she'd get to that when she found out the first two things.
First-Person Sample:
[When the mirror turns on, it reveals a blonde girl around ten or eleven years old. Her blonde hair is pulled into messy pigtails and there are bruises that are still in the process of darkening on her face. If someone were to look closely, they would also notice the flecks of dried blood that she hadn't managed to get off.
Mindy's hidden away her mask and purple wig, although she's still wearing her Hit Girl costume. The three bullet holes in the outfit can still be seen. ]
I'm gonna get straight to the point here.
[Her tone is serious, her eyes dark. There is a slight slurring of her 's' on the word 'straight,' but she doesn't seem to notice.]
I need some fuckin' aspirin. My head and ribs hurt like a bitch.
[There's more slurring on the words with 's' in them. Mindy seems oblivious to the possible shock value of someone her age using profanities, just like she seems oblivious that there's a slight slur to her words.]
Before any of you say anything, I'm not gonna see a fuckin' doctor. I don't need one. I can take care of myself. Just give me some aspirin and point me in the direction of somethin' that I can use to settle my stomach and I'll be fine.
[It's clear that her mind is set and isn't going to be swayed very easily, despite the fact that it's clear that she needs one. Really, the mentions of pain and the slurring of her words are the only indicators that there's something wrong. There is no sign of pain on her face or in her eyes, just a strong determination to get what she asked for with as little trouble as possible]
